RULES AND REGULATION
STORYTELLING COMPETITION

PREFACE:

Storytelling is a competition where the participants will be telling a story in English in their creative style. Participants are given 10 (ten) minutes for their performances. Participants are allowed to use costumes, pictures, visual aids, and any supporting materials to make their stories more interesting. The scoring criteria of the competition are Matter (grammar, vocabulary, story interpretation, and pronunciation) and Performance (interaction, intonation, and punctuality of time).

PURPOSE:

The purposes of this competition are to build the confidence for public speaking, improve the ability in telling stories in English and encourage the participants to be creative in engaging people or audiences.

Registration : July 25th - August 22nd
Video Submission : July 30th - August 25th
Finalists Announcement : August 28th
Finalists Performance on Zoom : September 4th - 6th
Crowning of the Winners : September 7th
Gradual Delivery of the Rewards : October 20th

  1. Kindergarden (4-6 years old)
  2. Elementary (7-9 years old)
  3. Elementary (10-12 years old)
  4. Junior High
  5. Senior High

Category A : About Emotions
Category B : Self-Confidence
Category C, D, E : Finding Yourself or Growing Up

FREE REWARD

1st Place (Each Category)

  • A chance to go to Korea and 500 USD voucher and appear at the Indonesia Keren event in Korea *(Terms and Conditions apply)
  • Voucher TOEFL Prediction (Rp. 400.000,-)
  • Prize Money of Rp. 500.000,- (if there are at least 20 participants in each category)
  • Reward Packages: Trophy, Souvenier bag, Charter, Printed Certificate

2nd Place (Each Category):

  • TOEFL Prediction Voucher (Rp, 200.000,-)

All Participants:

  • Semifinalist Certificate as a national level story-telling semifinalist
  • TOEFL Prediction Voucher (Rp. 75.000,-)
  • Reward packages: Trophy, Charter, Souvenier Bag, Printed Certificate

P.S. – All participants must pay the shipping fee of reward packages during the registration period.


FACILITIES:

  • National-level award printed certificate
  • The story script will be recorded and published
  • Story and script that will be published will be under the rights of Spikizi
  • A chance to get a 500 USD voucher and appear at the Indonesia Keren event in Korea *(Terms and Conditions apply)
  • Author and presenter of the story will be written down inside the pages of the published book before their story

COMPETITION SEQUENCES

This Storytelling Competition consists of 2 (two) rounds:

  1. Preliminary Round
    (Video & Story Submission) participants with the highest score will go to the final round.(Only 5 participant out of each category will be chosen to advance to the finals).
  2. Final Round
    (Live Performance via Zoom App) Winners from each category will be given the opportunity to perform live. During the final round participants will be given 7 minutes to perform their story live in front of the judges.

P.S. - The submitted manuscript becomes the property of the organizer. All manuscripts will be recorded, the name of the author of the script and the participants will be published on the first page of the book.


SPECIFIC RULES

  1. All participants must submit these to the Committee:
    Participants MUST UPLOAD THEIR VIDEO TO YOUTUBE, then fill a form that will be provided and in the form participants video link will be attatched
  2. Story submission are as follows:
    Participants must prepare two different stories in accordance with the theme determined – one for the preliminary round and another for the final round, that will be used if they proceed; All participants must prepare to proceed to the final round.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible to compete, competing individual must:

  1. Be enrolled legitimately in a School by showing the committee a legitimate Student Identity Card at the time of re-registration.
  2. Have completed the payment of the registration fee and was successfully registered as a participant.
  3. Maintain eligibility at all rounds of the competition. The participant will be disqualified if discovered ineligible to compete in any round.
  4. Each participant must be present to compete and cannot be represented by anything else other than themselves.
  5. Story must be composed originally, the story used in the competition can not be stories that have already been published or posted online.
  6. Story can be written by a different person than the presenter, BUT must be given credit to the original author during the Perliminaries and Finals.

    • Grammar 10%
    • Vocabulary 10%
    • Story Interpretation 15%
    • Pronunciation 10%
    • Originality 10%
  2. Performance (45%):
    • Interaction (Stage, eye contact, expressions and body language) 30%
    • Intonation 10%
    • Punctuality of time 5%
